I have been working back at Summerhill now for seven weeks. It is going very quickly, and as I have posted it is so different starting as a Houseparent rather than a teacher.
We have been watching Dr Who, with popcorn. The school is watching the world cup games, though not everyone. I opened the swimming pool during the England v USA match, though a number of kids had their faces painted... The TV is in the Lounge (meeting room) for the games, and there are various posters with the programme of games. For an international school, with kids from around the world there are several teams being followed.
The weather has been very changeable, and there was a fantastic rain storm with lightning and thunder... which the kids loved.
I have been travelling back and forth to London, continuing to work in East London and their schools, doing work on social enterprise and local democracy.
I ran a morning session of activities on Summerhill with trainee teachers from Cumbria University who are based at the Professional Development Centre in Tower Hamlets.
